Black History Month events held in Richmond

The scars of slavery were bared yesterday in Richmond. “Richmond was the heart of the export trade in slavery for 40 years,“ James River Park Manager Ralph White said from the stone docks at Ancarrow’s Landing on the south side of the James River. “As many as 10,000 people were sold in a single month in 1854 at the height of the trade.“
