UR crashes boards, burns VCU

The University of Richmond used an inspired rebounding effort to beat archrival VCU 66-52 in a women’s basketball game. The Spiders (7-2) outrebounded the Rams (3-2) 52-35. Reserve forward Nikita Thomas led the rebounding efforts with 12. Starting wing guard Brittani Shells had 11 rebounds and starting post player Katie Holzer 10. Shells, who scored a game-high 18 points, said her team entered the contest with the intent of making a physical statement.
